Importing event attendees using CSV follows similar steps to
importing contacts.
There are two additional columns you can add to the CSV file to add contacts to an event. Those two columns are:
Import limit: Event attendee CSV imports are capped at 1,000 data rows per file.
If your file contains more than 1,000 attendee rows, the upload is rejected.
If you need to import more than 1,000 attendees, split the CSV into smaller files, keep the header row in each file,
and upload each file separately.
Duplicate Contacts
When you import event attendees, LeadCenter tries to match each row to an existing contact before creating a new one.
How Matching Works
Matching uses email or phone from the CSV row.
At least one of email or phone must be included for matching to work.
If a matching contact is found, that contact is linked to the event. A new contact is not created.
If no match is found, a new contact is created and added to the event.
If the contact is already registered for that event, a duplicate attendee record is not created.
Important Notes
Matching is based on email or phone, not Contact ID. You do not need to include Contact ID unless you are updating
existing contacts.
If a row has no email and no phone, LeadCenter cannot match it to an existing contact and will create a new contact.
When an existing contact is matched, their contact details are not updated from the CSV. Only the event attendee
link is created.
If duplicate contacts were created before matching was in place, use the merge feature to combine them.
