How to Create an AUM Account

This guide walks you through how to create an Assets Under Management (AUM) account for a contact in LeadCenter. You can create an account from multiple places in the application, depending on where you’re working.


Where You Can Create an AUM Account

There are several ways to start creating an AUM account:

From the Contacts Page

  1. Go to the Contacts page.
  2. Find the contact you want to create an account for.
  3. Click the three dots menu next to the contact.
  4. Click More.
  5. Select Create Account.

From the Contact Details Page

  1. Open the contact’s detail page.
  2. Click the action menu.
  3. Select More.
  4. Click Create Account.

From the Accounts Tab

  1. Open the contact’s detail page.
  2. Go to the Accounts tab.
  3. Click Create Account.

Creating a Pending AUM Account

A pending account is used when you expect an investment account to be opened, but it has not been funded yet. This is common for new prospects or recently signed clients.

Follow these steps to create a pending AUM account:

  1. Select AUM — Choose the Assets Under Management option.
  2. Select Custodians — Choose the appropriate custodian(s). You can create additional custodians from the Custodians page if needed.
  3. Select AUM Products — Choose the AUM products for this account. Additional products can be created from the AUM Products page.
  4. Select Engagement Sign Date — Choose the date the engagement was signed.
  5. Select Application Sign Date — Choose the date the application was signed.
  6. Enter Account Amount — Enter the expected account value (for example, $300,000).
  7. Select Writing Advisor — Choose the advisor responsible for this account.
  8. Select Account Type — Indicate whether the account is tax-qualified and select the specific type (for example, Traditional IRA).
  9. Click Save.

Note: You do not need to enter an account number when creating a pending account, since the account has not been funded yet.


Managing Account Details

After the account is created, you’ll be redirected to the account details page, where you can manage:

  • Basic account information
  • Important account dates
  • Ownership details
  • Writing advisors
  • Other account-specific fields

Changing an Account from Pending to Issued

Once the account has been funded, you should update its status from Pending to Issued.

  1. Open the account details page.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Change the Account Status to Issued.
  4. Select Account Funding Date — Choose the date the account was funded.
  5. Enter Account Number — Enter the actual account number.
  6. Click Save.

Once saved, the account will be marked as issued. Company fees will be calculated automatically, and the AUM account will be fully tracked in LeadCenter.
