Orion Auto Link for Unlinked Accounts

The Auto Link feature helps you quickly match and link Orion accounts to the correct financial accounts in LeadCenter. It runs a set of matching checks in order and links accounts automatically when it finds a clear, unique match.


Overview

When you run Auto Link, LeadCenter attempts to link unlinked Orion accounts using a step-by-step matching process. The system stops at the first match it finds for each account.

Tip: If Auto Link can’t find a unique match, the account stays unlinked so you can link it manually using Find & Link.


How to Use

  1. Go to Accounts.
  2. Open the Orion Unlinked Accounts page.
  3. In the page header, click Auto Link.

LeadCenter will process all unlinked Orion accounts and automatically link any accounts that meet the matching rules below.


How Auto Link Matching Works

Auto Link checks the following steps in order and stops as soon as a match is found:

  1. Exact account number match
    If the Orion account number matches a LeadCenter account number exactly, the accounts are linked immediately.
  2. First 6 characters match
    If no exact match is found, LeadCenter checks whether the first 6 characters of the Orion account number match exactly one unlinked LeadCenter account. If the match is unique, it will be linked.
  3. Contact name match
    If no account number match is found, LeadCenter looks for an unlinked issued account where the contact name (first + last) matches the Orion account name. Middle initials and punctuation are ignored. The match must be unique.
  4. Create a new account (if needed)
    If no existing account matches, but the contact name uniquely identifies a single contact in LeadCenter, LeadCenter will create a new main issued account for that contact and link it automatically.

Where to Find Results

  • Return to the Orion Unlinked Accounts list to see which accounts remain unlinked.
  • Open Accounts (or the contact’s account list) to confirm newly linked accounts.

Troubleshooting

  • Some accounts stayed unlinked: This usually means Auto Link found more than one possible match. Use Find & Link to choose the correct account manually.
  • Account numbers didn’t match: Account numbers are matched as-is. Make sure account numbers in LeadCenter and Orion match exactly (including dashes and prefixes).
  • An account was linked as a main but should be a sleeve: Auto Link does not handle sleeves. Open the contact’s accounts and manually attach the account as a sleeve under the correct main account.

FAQs

Can I run Auto Link more than once?

Yes. You can run Auto Link multiple times safely. Accounts that are already linked are skipped.

Does Auto Link link sleeve accounts?

No. Sleeves are not handled by Auto Link. If an Orion account should be a sleeve, you’ll need to link it manually under the correct main account.
