The Create Task action automatically creates a task when a workflow reaches that step. You can use it to assign follow-up work, create internal review tasks, or pause a workflow until someone completes a required action.
In the workflow builder, Create Task appears under the Actions section.
When the workflow reaches this node, LeadCenter creates a task and assigns it to the selected user or team. You can either let the workflow continue immediately or pause the workflow until the task is completed. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
The task is created and the workflow immediately moves to the next node. The task runs in parallel with the rest of the workflow.
The task is created and the workflow pauses until the task is marked as Completed. While waiting, the workflow run shows Waiting for event. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}
Important: If you choose Create task & await completion and the task is never completed, the workflow remains paused until the task is completed or the run is manually terminated. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}
Enter a clear task title so the assignee understands what needs to be done. The title supports shortcodes, so you can personalize it with contact or workflow data. :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}
Add task instructions, context, or details. Notes also support shortcodes for dynamic content. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}
Choose the task priority: High, Medium, Low, or None.
Set the initial task status. Common task statuses include Not Started, Under Progress, Completed, and Cancelled.
Assign the task to a specific user or a team.
You can optionally add more users as additional assignees. They will also see the task and receive notifications. Additional assignees are available when the owner is an individual user, not a team.
Choose which task list the task should be added to. If no task list is selected, the task can remain in the Inbox.
Optionally assign a category to help group and filter the task later.
Set the due date relative to the moment the task is created during the workflow run. You can choose:
You can also optionally set a specific time for the due date. The due date is calculated from when the workflow creates the task, not from when the workflow was published or originally triggered.
You can select a task template to prefill the task details automatically. After selecting a template, you can still override any field in the node settings. :contentReference[oaicite:14]{index=14}
All assignees receive notifications when a task is created through a workflow. :contentReference[oaicite:15]{index=15}
The workflow remains paused in Waiting for event status until the task is completed or the workflow run is manually terminated. :contentReference[oaicite:17]{index=17}
No. Only marking the task as Completed resumes a workflow in await completion mode. Cancelling the task does not advance the workflow. :contentReference[oaicite:18]{index=18}
Yes. You can use filters and branches earlier in the workflow to route contacts to different Create Task actions with different owners. :contentReference[oaicite:19]{index=19}
From the moment the workflow creates the task. It is not based on when the workflow was published or when the trigger first fired. :contentReference[oaicite:20]{index=20}
Create Task creates a standalone task with a due date relative to when it is created during the workflow run. Create Step creates a task group with a due date relative to the workflow’s Target Date. Use Create Task for standalone follow-up work and Create Step for date-anchored processes.
