Q: When we turn on the TCPA compliance message, will it be added to the very first text message we send to a new contact?

A: No. The message will be sent to any contact who has not received it before, even if you’ve previously messaged them.

Q: Will this make the first message longer than usual? Could it be sent as two separate text messages?

A: No. The TCPA message will not make the message appear longer to the client. SMS messages are split into segments of 128 characters, but the recipient will see it as a single message thread on their device.

Q: If a contact opts out, does that remove them from “Do Not Text” or “Do Not Mass Text”

A: Yes, the system will automatically flag them appropriately to prevent further texts.

Q: How does the system know that someone is a new contact?

A: This is a compliance-based setting. The message is sent to any contact who has not received it previously—whether they are new or existing.
To exclude existing contacts:

  • Please submit compliance approval from your compliance department.
  • Then, contact LeadCenter Support to exclude previous recipients from receiving the TCPA message.

Q: If we turn on the TCPA message, will our existing contacts receive it (since they haven’t seen it before)?

A: Yes, they will—unless excluded through the process described above.

Q: If someone opts out and later becomes a client, is there a way to re-subscribe them? Or will the system block that?

A: The system will block messages to opted-out contacts per mobile carrier compliance rules. The only way to re-subscribe is for the contact to manually send a message like START or SUBSCRIBE from their own device.
