Contact Details Page Overview

The contact details page is where all information about a contact lives, including identity, household details, activity, accounts, and communications. This article explains what each section is used for and how to move through the page efficiently.

Open a Contact

  • From the Contacts page, click the contact's name.
  • From the Sales Pipeline, click the contact's name.
  • From Global Search in the top header, search by name, email, phone number, or contact ID.
  • From a household view, click a household member's name.

The Masthead

The masthead appears at the top of the contact record and shows the most important contact details and quick actions.

  • Contact name, photo, and badges such as client status, possible duplicate, or spam
  • Primary email, Primary phone, and Primary address
  • Opt-out settings such as Don't call, Don't email, and Don't text
  • Quick actions such as Call, Email, Text, New Appointment, New Task, and New Note
  • The Actions menu for options such as Merge, Delete, Mark as spam, and pipeline actions

Inline Editing

Most fields on the contact details page support inline editing. Click the value, make the change, and click the save icon.

For emails, phone numbers, and addresses, use the row action menu to add, edit, delete, or mark an item as Primary or Preferred.

Best Practices

  • Check the masthead first. It gives you the quickest view of the contact's core details and opt-out settings.
  • Keep Primary values current. Primary values affect reminders, duplicate detection, and communication tools.
  • Review the Duplicates tab when a warning appears. This helps you decide quickly whether contacts should be merged.
  • Use the Family tab for household context. This is easier than switching between multiple records one at a time.
  • Record information in the right tab. Keep notes in Notes, tasks in Tasks, and communications in their matching tabs.

FAQs

Why are some fields hidden on a contact?

When a contact is not in the Sales Pipeline, some pipeline-related fields are hidden because they apply only to pipeline contacts. Turn In Pipeline? to Yes to show them.

Where do I change the owner?

You can change the owner in the Important Information section on the Overview tab, or in bulk from the Contacts page or Sales Pipeline.

Why do I see a possible duplicate warning at the top?

LeadCenter found a match between this contact's Primary email or Primary phone and another contact. Open the Duplicates tab to review the match and merge if needed.

Can I customize which sections appear?

The main sections are standard, but custom fields are configurable. For more details, see Custom Fields Designer.
