Update: Automatic Contact Matching Now Helps Reduce Duplicate Contacts in Redtail
04/17/2026
LeadCenter now helps reduce duplicate contacts in Redtail during automated pushes. Before creating a new Redtail contact, LeadCenter checks for an existing match using the contact’s available email addresses and phone numbers.
What’s New
Check Redtail before creating a new contact — LeadCenter now looks for an existing Redtail contact before creating a new one during automated pushes.
Use all available contact details for matching — Matching checks use all available email addresses and phone numbers for a more complete search.
Help reduce duplicate contacts in Redtail — If exactly one existing Redtail contact is found, LeadCenter updates that contact instead of creating another one.
How It Works
When LeadCenter automatically pushes a contact to Redtail, it first searches Redtail using all available email addresses and phone numbers on the contact.
If exactly one matching Redtail contact is found, LeadCenter links to that contact and pushes updates there instead of creating a duplicate.
If no match is found, LeadCenter creates a new Redtail contact as usual.
If multiple matches are found, or if the matched Redtail contact is already linked to another LeadCenter contact, LeadCenter skips the automatic link to avoid creating the wrong connection.
Please note: This automatic matching applies to background and automated pushes. Manual Push to Redtail actions continue to use the existing matching flow where you choose the contact manually.
Also important: If Redtail search returns an error during the matching step, LeadCenter falls back to creating a new contact so the sync is not blocked.
Why It Matters
Reduce duplicate contacts in Redtail — Help keep your Redtail database cleaner during automated sync activity.
Make automated pushes smarter — Let LeadCenter reuse an existing Redtail contact when there is a clear match.
Avoid risky automatic links — Skip ambiguous matches instead of guessing and linking to the wrong contact.
