New: Amount-Based Commissions for Writing Advisors

You can now assign fixed dollar commission amounts to writing advisors on financial accounts — in addition to the existing percentage-based production split. This gives you more flexibility to handle negotiated, flat-fee, or non-standard commission arrangements.

What’s New

New Amount Mode — Assign writing advisors a direct dollar commission instead of a percentage.
No auto-recalculation — Amount-based commissions stay fixed even if account values change.
Commission pool validation — Prevents assigning amounts that exceed the available commission pool.
Works alongside Production Split — Choose the mode that fits each account’s commission structure.

Two Ways to Assign Writing Advisor Commissions

When adding writing advisors to an account, you can now choose between:

Production Split Mode (existing)
Enter a percentage split (for example, 50%). Commissions are calculated automatically and adjust when account values change.
Amount Mode (new)
Enter a fixed dollar amount (for example, $500). The commission amount is protected from recalculation.

How Amount Mode Works

Add writing advisors using Amount Mode to assign fixed dollar commissions.

Enter an exact dollar amount for each writing advisor.
The amount does not change automatically if the account value or product fee changes.
Total assigned amounts cannot exceed the commission pool (Product Fee × Amount Issued).
You can leave the amount blank initially and set it later.

Mode Locking (Important)

Once you add the first writing advisor to an account, the commission mode is locked:

If the first advisor uses Production Split, all advisors must use Production Split.
If the first advisor uses Amount Mode, all advisors must use Amount Mode.
To switch modes, all existing writing advisors must be removed first.

Non-Issued Accounts

Writing advisors can be added in Amount Mode before the account is issued.
The commission amount must be set to $0.00 until the account is issued.
Once issued, you can edit and apply the final commission amount.

Reporting Behavior

Amount Mode advisors appear in reports with their fixed dollar commission.
Production Split advisors continue to show calculated commission values.
Reports automatically account for both modes.

Note: You cannot mix Production Split and Amount Mode on the same account. Deleting all writing advisors unlocks the account so you can choose a different mode.
